Delectable Jayjay, Loitnant Jones & Chan

The delectable Jayjay seeks adventure, excitement and romance too, but has to pick her outfits to ensure that she is dressed in adventure latest moda. She is surprised when her car bumps into that of her old colleague Jones who is on a secret mission.

They both believe that the other still harbours ill-will, but the future will display their deeper feelings.

Loitnant Jones of the Knwaybe Defence League in his chair at Complexica Airport, after seeing Jayajy. He reviews his orders and a warning message sent by a colleague before proceeding to Companion R&D where he is expected to arrest the development team with special need to arrest the head designer, Jefratus. Jones will fail in this mission because the entire development team have been assassinated by the mysterious and elusive Liberators; those killers from the 6th dimension - or so myth describes them - the truth is that no one knows who or what these killers are. All we know is that they appear from thin air, slaughter and vanish.

Loitnant Jones of the Knwaybe Defence League rarely travels first class, and has seen too much suffering as an officer of the League, dedicated in protecting Companions - those genetically engineered pets whcih are all the rage these days.

He leaves the airport without telling Jayajy how he feels about her or how dangerous his mission is likely to be, but neither of them suspect how their lives will be tossed by tragedy and unimaginable challenges.

Jones is to make contact with the Knwaybe Defence League's undercover team working at Companion R&D led by Chan. To verify Chan's identityt place the KDL card on her tongue for a DNA confirmation, but events will require Jones to return to KDL headquarters to track Jefratus who has remarkably escaped the normally lethal interest of the Liberators. The Knwaybe Defence League undercover team infiltrating the R&D department at Companion Corp is lead by Chan. It is she who locates the think tank and arrests the data, while her team discovers the new Companion Prototypes.

Jefratus, Stinky, the Chief & the recovery

Jefratus is the reknowned leader of the R&D centre at Companion Corp, and having escaped the assassination attempt by Liberators he has fled to the dangerous wilderness of Lawless followed by Jayajy and Jones KDL, one to save him the other to arrest him for crimes against life.

Jayjay's immediate boss at Minmax Travel Advisory is commonly refered to as Stinky (don't ask). His fondness for the delectable Jayjay is only exceeded by his love of epic poetry, so why does he ignore the terrible reports about her in Lawless?

"Yes, well, I Um.. we.. er, well" The Chief deciding whether to send in a recovery team to bring back the body of Jayjay tragically lost in Lawless. He orders three teams to fly into Lawless at night to recover the body without attracting the attention of Marauders....

They watched the three armoured personnel carriers fly off on the rescue mission and they watched as two limped back. The Maremundo team and the Troikans had returned, but what of the earth team? That vehicle would be worth a treasure as salvage and the two gypsies were determined to collect it.

While one of the gypsies fails to extract information from the slimey Maremundo team
her sister is on the other side of the airfield trying to seduce the Troikans to find out where the earth team crashed so that she and her sister can claim salvage.

her seductive powers win over the surviving warriers from Troika. (The gypsies salvage operation using giant Crulu will be in a later episode.)

Flitting to Lawless Jones Meets Hignat

Flitting is instantaneous as you cross the string barriers in a higher dimension and step across vast distances. Remember whatever you experience in the process is an illusion.

As Jones flits to Lawless from Knwaybe HQ he is haunted by the suffering he has witnessed and his unspoken emotions for Jayjay. When he arrives outside the entry gat to Lawless he has to put those thoughts aside as he plans how to enter without being easy prey to the vile Marauders.

The sentry guard at the entry gate into Lawless requires that you swear that you are entering by your free will. That is the only requirement to leave civilization.

After Jomes so swears and he manages to get past the Marauder ambush he will need the help of Hignat Smith.

Hignat lives in Lawless and is tough enough to live in that hostile environment, but she hears voices and is keen on killing visitors after having made them comfortable for a nice chat.

Hignat uses the drone to locate Jones of the Knwaybe Defence League with whom she hopes for a romantic tryst. She helps him repair his hover rider after he crashes and gives him information about Jefratus who entered Lawless earlier. Hignat also goes on about someone she calls Sadie who was there the day before with a robot she called Beets. Jones will realise who Sadie really is and he will be reduced to tears.

Jayjay dreams and flitgirls reassure

The delectable Jayjay dreams of her secret assignation, but it will not be as she hopes. Her meeting with the Chuprassy will transform her life. but also tumble her to her doom.

Ah, we all love them FlitGirls. The emotional disturbance that passengers experience when flitting has turned the flit attendants into the heart throbs of the modern world.

Jayjay to the rescue!

Jayjay's secret assignment leads to a quest which will bring her into great danger as she enters Lawless accompanied by a specially chosen robot reprogrammed to be her perfect partner. Her path crosses with Hignat, Jones and Jefratus plus the intelligent machines, Beets, the Konficar and HoverRider. The finale of this movie takes place within the Konficar where Jones has to face his greatest moral dilemma while they all endure a Marauder attack.

60 Minute feature film - Summer Release 2006

Due for release this summer, the first of the God's Companion movies, The Search for Jefratus, runs 60 minutes and is filmed in widescreen PAL.

Created entirely on computers in an international collaboration using software from America, some of which is freely available open source software, computer models and designs from many countries including Brazil and Germany, based on the novel written in Spain, the film has been filmed on computers in Spain and Britain.

You can read blogs written by the characters from the movie as they explain in their own words the events of the story seen from their point of view.

The following clips are early versions of the scenes available for individual download. Some have all the voices, sound effects and music sountrack plus post production visual effects, but those numbered V001 (version 1) may be missing some voices effects or other sounds. Most have subtitles so you can follow the story even if you have no sound on the equipment you are using.

They vary in size from 10Mb to 25Mb with running times between 1 min and 3 minutes.

Scene 001 Speedster swoops the delectable Jayjay should be writing a travel piece, but instead she gets into trouble for dangerous flying.

Scene 001b Airport and message from Marmont - to be upgraded. If you could do a better animation of this scene, join the open source movie production system and replace the message of this scene with a better animation. Charlotte Marmont sends a message to Loitnant Jones warning him that he is in danger.

Scene 002 Message from Mamaison - to be upgraded. Loitnant Jones superior sends his orders which are foolhardy, but Jones is a stickler for duty. If you could do a better animation of this scene, join the open source movie production system and replace the message of this scene with a better animation.

Scene 004 Stinky and the delectable Jayjay The delectable Jayjay reports in to her boss at the travel company and uses her beauty to excuse her problems.

Scene 005 Loitnant Jones at Companion R&D Obeying his orders, Loitnant Jones goes to Companion R&D to arrest the scientists who are involved in the genetic manipulation of animals.

Scene 006 Chan at the think tank Now that the scientists have been assassinated, the leader of the undercover team at Companion R&D searches for the secrets of the think tank.

Scene 007 Secret Assignation Preparation The delectable Jayjay is worried by the anonymous message left for her to meet someone alone. Should she go?

Scene 008 Secret Assignation at the data center Jayjay discovers who her secret assignation is with and it will change her life.

Scene 009 Jones flits to league HQ Jones flits to League HQ to continue to track the sole survivor of the assassins attack. How did Jefratus escape the terrorists?

Scene 011 Jones at the quartermaster Having discovered that Jefratus has feld into the killing deserts of Lawless, Jones prepares his equipment before following.

Scene 018 Jones reaches the battle - too late to save his old love Jayjay. He cannot believe that she came into Lawless and that this is her violated and burnt corpse.

Scene 018b Jones does Forensic reconstruction to discover what happened prior to sending a message to next of kin.

Scene 020 The Chief responds to the news that Jayjay has been murdered.

Scene 021 Recovery teams listen to Chief as he explains the need to recover the body

Scene 022 Gypsies watch the teams preparing to enter Lawless

Scene 023 The recovery teams enter Lawless full of pride in their invincibility, but pride turns to folly.

New software tools for a new movie industry

We are developing the tools and methods for this Open Source Studio system, and have not yet moved all of the action on-line, we still use mail delivery for renders due to the size of the files and also for some acting recordings if the actor isn't that clued-up on computer internet methods. Our first production, a 60 minute animated film called "God's Companion - the search for Jefratus" is now out of beta and ready for release 1.0 which is due in summer of 2006.

The people involved in the production are in America, Brazil, England, Germany, & Spain and probably other countries - being connected by internet you don't necessarily know where your collaborators are. I have only met a few of them face to face and I haven't spoken to many of the others. The process has involved lots of email and file exchange, but little conversation.

Any software can be used as long as it handles common standard files, but because we want it to be very easy to enter the Open Source Production system we have a preference for readily available low cost software. Much of this is open source, but not all of it. We use wings3D for models which is free, we use DAZ-Studio for posing and animating articulated models (humans and animals) because it is also currently free, we use Audacity and Wavepad for audio both of which are currently free and we use Bryce for landscape and machine animations because is is low priced.
The reason for using free or low priced software is because anyone can obtain it, try it and see if they like being a movie maker without the trauma of spending a large amount of money and then finding that they don't enjoy the process.

We have nothing against higher priced software, its just that to be OPEN, we need to also be CHEAP, so that everyone can try their hands (and eyes and brains) in this fantastic new process the Open Source Studio movie production system.

Open Source & Open Call

The actual production process is Open Source, and we operate an Open Call system.

Open Call is a conventional term used in theatre where anyone can come and audition for a part. We use that concept not just for actors but also for software model makers, graphics artists who do materials, sound effects creators, animators and even persons who have little artistic input but who have spare computer time and would like to render (film) the animations created by others.

To join the system a person goes to our (new) forum website and registers there explaining what aspect of the film production process he or she would like to be involved in. Then the person 'auditions' by posting an example of work (art, models, voice overs, etc).

If the quality of the audition is high enough and we currently need that ability in one of the projects we accept that person into the project and give access to a private resource which includes the details of each project. The team member can choose from the list of segements and make a claim on that by indicating which he or she would like to tackle.

If the finished work is accepted then it is edited into the project and the person gets a screen credit for the work.

As no movie is ever 'finished' it is always possible for a team member to put forward a new version of any scene and if it is accepted as being an improvment for the overal movie it will be edited in and a new release (upgrade) made.

Virtual Studio busts conventions

In conventional film making there is filming and post-production with a finished product 'the movie' at the end which is then distributed by some, probably physical, means.

As software there is a beta stage where a selected audience try-out the software and it is improved until it seems good enough to release and then there is Release 1.0 - not a finished product, but good enough to ship. From Release 1.0 work continues and the product is 'upgraded' and identified as an improved version by being given another number, Release 1.1 or 1.2 or if it is a major improvement release 2.0

That is how we release our movies, as we work on them they are tested with a selected audience (we call them beta-testers based on the software convention) and when the movie has been improved to the point where it is watchable as a reasonably polished product it is released as Release 1.0.

Being available for download (it's software remember) we continue improving it and issue the newer versions as upgrades 1.1, 1.2 etc.

If you think that the released movie isn't good enough - take responsibility by making it better.

Open Source Movie Production & the Virtual Studio

Our Open Source Studio system is an advanced concept based on the open source software method applied to the production of animated films.
We go far beyond the use of open source software, actually applying the concept of open source to the production process itself.
Animated films are software from the models and programs that create the images, the speech sound FX and music, to the finished frames per second- they are all software in bits that can be created on computers and shipped down the line through the internet using standard protocols.
So as everything is software and bits we have adopted the conventions and methods of software production applied to movie production.
This is a deep and exciting project; we think we are building a new industry paradigm.

We are an on-line virtual studio as featured in the August 2006 edition of 3DWorld magazine.

There is an open call for actors (male and female), animators, singer-songwriters, sound effects creators, software model makers, texture artists (those who create the skins that go over models giving them surface art) and writers or budding directors.
